Imagine stepping into the shoes of a digital cartographer, tasked with transforming the winding, bumpy trails of the Bpost app into a seamless superhighway of user delight. As a Junior Product Designer at Bpost, I embarked on a journey to enhance the user experience, mapping out every click, swipe, and scroll. With a sprinkle of creativity and a dash of design magic, I reimagined the app's user journeys, turning convoluted pathways into intuitive routes. The result? An app that not only delivers parcels but also delivers smiles, making every interaction a breeze for our users. It was a quest filled with user research expeditions, prototype adventures, and endless iterations, all leading to a smoother, more enjoyable digital experience.
The Why
The motivation behind our redesign of the Bpost 'send a parcel' experience was clear and compelling: to enhance the user experience and ensure that users could effortlessly send parcels. We recognized that the existing user journeys were convoluted, often leaving users frustrated and uncertain about how to navigate the app’s features. By streamlining the interface and simplifying the process, we aimed to make it intuitive and straightforward for users to send parcels with just a few taps. Our goal was to transform the app into a trusted, user-friendly tool that meets the needs of our customers, ultimately boosting their satisfaction and encouraging them to choose Bpost for all their parcel-sending needs.
Design Goals
The mission? To conjure a user experience so simple and seamless that sending parcels via the Bpost app felt like magic. Our aim was to make it crystal clear that users could effortlessly register their parcel details and drop them off without a hitch. By refining the app’s pathways, we turned potential frustration into a smooth, hassle-free journey, ensuring that users could focus on sending smiles, not troubleshooting tech.
The finale
As the final flourish to our design odyssey, our revamped Bpost app soared to new heights, landing in the top 5 apps in the Belgian App Store. The client was over the moon, thrilled with the transformation and the surge in user satisfaction. This triumphant project marked the end of an era for me, as I bid farewell to Sketch, the trusty tool that helped shape our vision. Together, we crafted a digital masterpiece that not only delivered parcels but also delivered delight, leaving a lasting impact on both Bpost and its happy users.
